Late Afternoon, Fournier Street

S. Schwartz was once the occupier of 33 Fournier Street where the family name still hangs intact. The explosion of street art juxtaposed with the delicate, ghostly signage is an image that stopped me in my tracks. I wanted to capture this scene in a painting. The image features in the publication ‘East End Vernacular – Artists Who Painted London’s East End Streets in the 20th Century’.
