This painting, from my ‘phone addiction’ series, explores the subject of humanity and our relationship with technology.
Thanks to the high-tech, hyper-linked, super-saturated world we live in today, our addiction to the smartphone is creating a new physical social environment. Seeing everyone transfixed by their devices is now the most ubiquitous pose on the planet.
All-pervading technologies like the smartphone, from which we derive instant information, connected identity and real-time here-and-now experiences are now dominating our lives. Our fixation with what’s happening on and our infatuation with is fundamentally changing the way we interact with each other. The question is, have we reached a tipping point – has made us more anti-social in the real world?
