In this drawing, I experimented by taking a section of my collage, ‘Landscape’ (see portfolio), and translating it into a drawing using charcoal. I found that I had much less control over the charcoal than with pencil which is reflective of the countryside as it is free and has no boundaries. I was able to make some unusual and contrasting textures. I found that using a putty rubber to remove and smudge the charcoal when it was on the paper helps to produce some very unusual markings that I used to my advantage. Please note that the drawing is protected with acetate.
