My work often talks about mental health and living life with it.

Flowers represent a cyclical element to life and the ups and downs we all experience.

The use of skulls enhances this dialogue to literal cycles of life and death. Having experienced the death of my father during covid, these elements became stronger in my work.

I wanted to represent the duality that happens when someone you love passes away. You have to mostly be fine as life doesn't stop just because someone is gone. However, you are definitely not fine most of the time in those early days.

Incidentally, this situation made me hyperfocus on my art and gave me new reasons to create.

All of these observations are autobiographical, yet I hope people find something of themselves in them

About the artist

7th Pencil is a street artist from rural England that studied fine art at university, making predominantly sculpture. She now creates large scale works using spray paint with a heavy design element mixing photography with graphic illustration and pattern, attention grabbing and vivid.

Flowers feature heavily in her work which speak to a cyclical nature of life, the faces and patterns are an exploration into a deeper level of complexity that resides in us and suggests more is going on than people can perceive. All of this is is composed with a surreal, abstract twist and a pops of colour.

Her compositions create a sense of being overwhelmed, she wants to generate conversations about female empowerment, normalising mental health conditions and learning difficulties. She likes to encourage the viewers own varying perceptions about how the works speak to them which leads them into deeper thought concerning their own lives and experiences. In spite of the deep topics her works are always colourful and uplifting at a glance.

If your item still hasn’t been delivered within 5 days, please contact us and we can launch an investigation.
*Please note: Once we pass your order to our courier, your package is with a different provider. We completely understand delays are frustrating, however once your order is with the courier, any issues need to be investigated by our courier. We can contact them on your behalf to resolve any issues. Please be assured, we will always do our best to get the issue sorted as quickly as possible for you.
